Francesco Giuseppe 'Pino' Biafora was born February 10, 1946 in
Savelli, Catanzaro(Calabria). He grew up in San Giovanni In Fiore,
and at the age of 17 he left Calabria to follow his passion for
woodworking. He moved to Como to work in a furniture woodworking
shop, where he designed and sketched furniture.
Pino would sing and play the guitar, which he learned by ear
in his spare time. After his discharge as a corporal, he returned
to Como to continue woodworking until May 1970 when he came to
Windsor to visit family, and then immigrated upon meeting Anna
Iaquinta. In 1971, he married Anna, also from San Giovanni In
Fiore and had three daughters together, Filomena, Rosanna and
Laura. During this time he joined I Figli Del Sole as singer and
guitarist and while continuing
his passion for music he opened his own business, Biafora Artistic
Woodwork on Erie Street. His family was his life. He lived for them, he loved them
unconditionally and gave them everything he could. As a family they
travelled to many places throughout the years and continued to
travel with Anna yearly to Mexico with family and friends enjoying
every minute of his life. Pino lived his life to the fullest,
without regret. His presence was an inspiration to all those around
him. His legacy lives on everyday by the ones who love and miss him
most.
